The world of technology and fashion share a similar pulse. Just as quickly as hemlines change, so do the latest gadgets, applications and platforms. With my trusty iMac in tow, I embarked this week on a journey to Internet Retailer’s national conference in San Diego to research the latest in e-Commerce technology. With our ever evolving website, I am always on the hunt for innovative solutions to make our online shopping experience more exciting for our sophisticated and stylish fashionista. One of the major industry announcements was the recent acquisition of Magento by eBay. What is Magento you ask? It is the leading e-Commerce platform that allows for rich customization and a more personalized shopping experience. It’s also the favored web platform for some of our favorite designers such as Anya Hindmarch and Derek Lam.
Another industry buzz at the conference was launch of D’Fusion for Adobe Flash Player. Last fall, Adobe and Total Immersion formed a strategic alliance to further develop augmented reality online. The technology currently allows for you to try on glasses, watches and jewelry. Fine jeweler Boucheron is currently utilizing the technology with this unique app:
